Dentistry is one of the few NHS services where you have to pay a contribution towards the cost of your care. In April 2006, the NHS in England and Wales started operating a new contract system.
This means that there are now three standard charges for the National Health Service for dental treatment, this will help to make the NHS system easier and more accessible for patients.
The information on this page explains what you may have to pay for your NHS dental treatment.
|One||Examination, Diagnosis, X-Rays, Scale & Polish. When you need to see a dentist immediately, usually for extreme pain, swelling or excessive bleeding.||£21.60|
|Two||All treatments in band one plus additional procedures such as fillings, root canal treatment, relining of dentures and extractions.||£59.10|
|Three||All treatments in bands one and two plus more complex procedures such as crowns, dentures or bridges.||£256.50|
